Finally the first X Factor Philippines Grand Winner has been announced tonight Sunday (October 7, 2012) at the PAGCOR theater Paranaque, Philippines. The only female finalist KZ Tandingan, an aspiring singer from Digos and 21 year old was named as the first winner of the contest. KZ Tandingan was one of the 3 finalists of the first X Factor Philippines and the other two finalists are the all boy group "Daddy's Home" and Gabriel Maturan. The second runner-up was given to the "Daddy's Home" and the first runner-up was Gabriel Maturan.
KZ Tandingan won the 4 million Pesos prize of the talent search show X Factor Philippines. It is a prize package including a recording contract with Star Music. Gabriel Maturan who got the first runner-up received P100,000 while Daddy's Home who got the second runner-up took home P50,000.
Before the result was announced, Charice as the mentor of KZ Tandingan did not cry this time and she said she believed on KZ's talent. When KC Concepcion announced the first grand winner of X Factor Philippines, KZ became emotional and had so much joy and she said "Lord, God, maraming salamat po sa lahat,” Tandingan shouted, who added that she will use part of her earnings to repair a church in her hometown." Both Charice and KZ Tandingan thanked the crowd and their supporters.
As part of the show, the three grand finalists also performed with their mentors for the first time on the X Factor Philippines. KZ and Charice sung “The Way You Look Tonight,” while Daddy’s Home and their mentor Gary Valenciano harmonized on Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.” Gabriel Maturan and his mentor Martin Nievera, meanwhile, did a duet on the Disney theme song “Go the Distance” from the movie “Hercules.”
KZ, Gabriel, and Daddy's Home also performed duets with the ABS-CBN “champions.” Maturan sang Whitney Houston’s “On My Own” with Erik Santos, while KZ Tandingan joined Jed Madela for Jordin Sparks’ “This is My Now.” Daddy’s Home performed with Jovit Baldvino for Brian McKnight’s “Win,” and all three joined Angeline Quinto for Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb.”
