Finally, the 38th
Metro Manila Film Festival Awards night has been successfully celebrated at the Meralco Theater in
Ortigas, Pasig City on Thursday, December 27.
It was a very tough
competition (for the annual festival) among the eight official entries on the
38th MMFF. The Star Cinema film trumped the “Thy Womb” movie of Brillante
Mendoza, which
was originally predicted to win several major awards.
Overall, “One More Try” won six awards including the
Best Picture at the 38th MMFF. While “Thy Womb” and “El Presidente” reap
major awards on the said festival.
Dingdong Dantes who portrayed as “Edward” in “One More Try”
movie got the Best Actor Award.
Nora Aunor (the Superstar), however, who portrayed as “Shaleha”
(a Badjao midwife in the Tawi-Tawi-set
film) had won the Best Actress Award on the 2012 MMFF.
Meanwhile, when it
comes to their revenue in theaters covered by the MMDA, the highest-earning
film fest entry so far, is "Sisterakas," who was named 3rd Best
Picture in the said festival. Second, is the “Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote, At
Si Ako”, and Third is the “One More Try” movie.
Among the New Wave
entries to the annual film fest, "The Grave Bandits" reaped major
honors, including Best Film and Best Director for Tyrone Acierto.
