Vice Ganda publicly apologizes to Jessica Soho in It's Showtime

After a successful concert of Vice Ganda last May 17 in Smart Araneta Coliseum entitled “I-Vice Ganda Mo ako”, TV News personality Jessica Soho made social media abuzz with her reaction on the comedienne’s joke about her and rape victims on the said concert.

Vice Ganda today afternoon on It’s Showtime noon time show of ABS-CBN publicly apologized to the broadcast journalist. “Ako po talaga ay humihingi ng paumahin. Humihingi po ako ng paumanhin. Opo ‘yun po ay isang biro na maari sa inyo ay hindi magandang biro at kung hindi po magandang biro ‘yun at nasaktan ko po talaga kayo, humingi po ako ng paumanhin, patawad po,” Vice Ganda remarked on the noontime show.

The comedy-host also promised not to include Miss Jessica in any of his jokes as a way to make amends. “Ipinapangako ko po sa inyo na hindi na kayo magiging kasama kailanman sa anumang tema ng pagtatanghal ko. ‘Yun lang po ang naiisip kong gawin para makabawi kung nasaktan ko man kayo,” he said.

Vice Ganda said he tried to apologize to Ms.. Soho through a phone call but the broadcast journalist refused to talk to him saying, “Pasensya ka na kasi hindi maganda ang timpla ko ngayong araw na ‘to.”

When he tried to ask if he could call her during a convenient time, Ms. Soho’s only reply was, “I don’t think so.” Vice reiterated that he didn’t mean any harm towards Jessica. “Kung hindi niyo man ako kayang patawarin sa ngayon sana balang araw mapatawad niyo po ako, dahil inuulit ko po ‘yun po ay isang biro lamang.” Said Vice.

On the issue that he mocked the rape victims in his concert, It’s Showtime host stated, “Lahat po ng nakapanood nong gabing ‘yun umuwi ng bahay nilang walang naalalang ginawa kong katatawanan ang rape at hindi ko na ulit i-jujustify kung anong ginawa kong tama, kong anong ginawa kong mali. Gusto ko lang pong klaruhin sa lahat na hindi ko po kailanman gustohing kutyain ang kahit sino mang rape victim. Wala po akong intensyong masama na pagtawanan ang rape victims. Wala po akong intensyong masama gayon pa man kung meron mang nasaktan, humihingi po ako ng paumanhin.” He said.

He added that he’s urging the public not to comment on the issue if they did not know anything in details to avoid further escalation of the issue. Vice also mentioned that he is not a perfect comedian and hopes people will understand that. “Ako lang po ay tao. Hindi po ako perperktong komedyante. Alam ko sa sarili ko na hindi lahat ng jokes ko ay nakakatawa.”

Vice Ganda also apologized to all that he might have hurt with his jokes. “Sa lahat po ng nasaktan ko, buong-puso, mula sa puso ko, sinasambit ng dila ko at lumalabas sa bibig ko ngayon at at hindi lang basta dinidikta ng ibang tao at ng utak ko, humihingi po ako ng paumanhin.”

To wrap up his statement Vice said he will understand those who do not appreciate his work. “Kung hindi niyo ako nauunawaan ako ang uunawa sa inyo.” he said.
