MasterChef Pinoy Edition winner to marry his girlfriend

Last Saturday, JR Royal was awarded as the very first MasterChef Pinoy Edition champion.  The half Bicol half Igorot chef did not expect that he could make the judges of the live-cook-off Miss Kris Aquino and Richard Gomez be amazed with his dish.  Royal was the only guy who became one of the Top-4 on the said cooking show.

“Honestly from the start hindi ako nag-e-expect na ako ’yung mananalo. I’m just doing my thing, not to expect na ako ’yung mananalo. Pero siyempre inisip ko na ako sana. Pagkarinig ko ng pangalan ni Ate Carla (2nd placer), namanhid lang ’yung pakiramdam ko eh, na parang lahat nag-freeze. Looking back sa journey namin, lahat kami ditong contestants, we never thought that this is possible. So, nakakapangilabot,” said JR while he smiles.

At this present time, the “Rakistang Kusinero” from Benguet had exactly turned 29 years old.  According to him, he can now pursue his dream to marry his girlfriend because of the prizes that he got from being the MasterChef Pinoy Edition champion.

“Unang-una, ’yung long overdue na wedding, and of course, one million is for me napakalaking halaga for just one person. So sa family ko mapupunta. Noong December pa lang ako nakapag-set ng mga plano ko sa buhay. Nag-resign na ako sa trabaho and magtutuluy-tuloy na ako sa culinary. I’m looking forward to learning from the bests. Kina Chef Gene and Chef Gino (Gonzalez),” says JR.
